Fall has arrived and today is Halloween!
Happy Halloween everyone! It's a cloudy fall day here with small stints of sunshine. My schedule has been crazy lately so I haven't had much time for a blog post. My son is busy with his homework so I thought I would take the time to jot down a few things to let you know I'm still moving right along.
I decided to take my Facebook group page, which was a closed group, and start a fan page...you cannot possibly be effective in growing a business if everything has to remain private. If you would like to visit my new page you can find it here . Stop by for a visit and "like" the page if you want to keep up with what's happening in the world of Kasey Martin Photography.
I promised my sister, Rhonda, a photo session for months and it just never seemed to be the right time. A few weekends ago we finally got the chance to do a few shots. She was pleased with what we did and I enjoyed finally getting to do some pictures with her. This one is my favorite (and I think hers too).
The next weekend my step-daughter, Emily, came to stay with us for a few days and we did a small impromptu session. We spent some time doing her hair and makeup and then went outside for a few pictures. I enjoyed that time with her and love how the pictures turned out. She looks absolutely beautiful.
Next, I attended a political event for Presidential front runner Herman Cain. I got the opportunity to meet Mr. Cain and was able to stand with the normal media to take some pictures. Now bear in mind, I'm a portrait photographer/fine art photographer, but I really needed an event like this for a school project in photojournalism. So here I am with my pink Epiphanie camera bag and pink silk camera strap among photographers with weathered camera bags and zoom lenses that made me drool...I posted about this on my Facebook page because I thought it was quite humorous to be in that crowd of journalist photographers looking like a fashionista photographer with a press pass. It was an interesting day and will remain a favorite event and memory for me.
My next project has been with members of my PICS team members at church. We are doing a Christmas Photo Project for members of our church. I took on the design for the set and spent most of the week gathering extra items for props and such. We finally got the opportunity to try it out (even though it was still incomplete)! This picture is of some of my PICS team members trying out the lighting and how it will accommodate a large family. Kelley Rowland & her son, Celia Montgomery, Jim Montgomery, and Tom Ireland are the members in this picture. Thank you to all of them for their help....and Jim, thanks for making me want a PW! It's on my list of things I have to have now.
I have two more scheduled portrait sessions and then I will be involved with this Christmas project until at least mid-November. I look forward to getting back on schedule but I also love doing this project and can't wait to take some great pictures and work with some extremely awesome people on my team.
That's what I've been up to! I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween tonight and I look forward to getting back on schedule very soon. Back to homeschooling now!
Until the next time~ keep smiling and may you be blessed!
