Happy New Year everyone! It's hard to believe another year has passed so quickly! I hope everyone brought in the New Year just the way they wanted to. I have been working on school photo projects, testing, and preparing for a presentation at our first 2012 PICS team meeting at church. In my business, I have stepped up my marketing and all marketing materials for 2012, took some time off to really concentrate on my school, home schooling my son, spending time with family for the holidays, and really contemplating a studio space for this year. In, addition, I also have a contest on my Facebook fan page at the moment...stop by and tell us what your resolution for 2012 is, it's that easy!!
The answer is yes, I got studio equipment for Christmas (no brainer- and the hubby knows what I like and want most in camera and studio equipment) and yes, I have been messing with different lighting and setups. Oh so overjoyed! So much so, I'm throwing a Photo Party at my house for all my wonderful lady friends...we will have a little wine, cheese, some finger foods, music, and have fun with the camera. Everyone needs a nice new profile picture for Facebook every once in awhile, huh? I'm so excited I can hardly wait!
So from the past I have learned that a photographer, no matter what the session calls for, should always carry an Emergency Photographers Kit in addition to your normal camera bag. I thought I would share mine. The must haves for your (or at least mine anyway) emergency photo session bag:
1. Gaffers tape (you never know what you might need to tape down or in place)
2. Gray card
3. Translucent face powder (you don't need sweaty shiny faces)
4. Lint roller
5. Extra power cord
6. Small screwdriver or screwdriver set
7. MAG light/LED flashlight
8. Lighter (for light writing or just in case you forget your flashlight)
9. Small sewing kit with small scissors
10.Towel or blanket
11. Small compact umbrella (for those times you get caught in the rain)
12. Extra camera battery or two
13. Extra SD or CF cards
14. Kitchen chip clip or clothespin (holds your lens cap to your camera strap if you are always misplacing it)
15. Large quart size ziploc baggies (you never know when you might need to protect your gear from water damage)
Starting the year off with a few tips and tricks from my book of being a photographer! I'll be doing this more often throughout the year :)
Now I must get back to printing my presentation for my PICS meeting tomorrow night.
Again, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I"m so excited about all the new things happening in my life I'm over the moon! I pray yours is just a spectacular!
God bless....and keep smiling!
~ K
