As the year 2010 slips away and we get ready to usher in a new year, we should all take the time to stop and reflect on what the past year held for us in order to make 2011 an ever better year. Whether you experienced the most successful year or were met with hardships in 2010 there is always a lesson to be learned, whatever the situation. Applying the lessons learned from successes, failure, rejection, acceptance, etc. can only prove to be a positive experience. I mean, lets face it, we can't always have certain joy...there's always a bit of bad luck, if you will, throughout our lives. As long as you continue to learn from those times and apply the positive to your life...you continue to grow and mature.
In my personal life I experienced a year like no other...the battle to come to terms with my new disability and still be the person I had always been without questioning my abilities was a rough one and came at a very slow pace. I finally realized I really don't care what other people think of my physical appearance, that I still possessed the same intellect, humor, and talent on the inside. I learned to process the pain internally and only show the positive on the outside. I know a lot of you had to listen to me moan about it on Facebook and I am so sorry but thankful at the same time...your support and encouragement always pulled me through.
Professionally, I had the most amazing year! I got to work with some truly amazing people! I cherish those times because without them I truly think I would have been lost. I love photographing the outdoors and florals and I thought photographing people might not be as satisfying to me. Boy, was I wrong! I so enjoy that aspect of my job...there is nothing like the feeling you get when someone is truly happy with how you capture them in photographs. Again, I can't say thank you enough.
I know when a person says they've had a successful year most people equate that with money. I don't happen to see it that way. If you are able to do something you truly love and you get an overwhelming acceptance from those around you for that work, that's successful! Every day you are blessed and able to go out and do the thing that makes you and others happy is a success. Of course, no matter what anyone says, they don't call it work if you're not making money at it...BUT, if you end up doing what I do just for the money, then you are missing the point and your finished product will show it.
Each and every one of you that I worked with or are friends with, had a role in making my business and me personally, a very happy and successful person in 2010 and I look forward to even more success in the new year.
From Kasey Martin Photography ~ my family to yours: I wish you happiness, prosperity, good health, and much love in 2011!!!
